Professor Eran Goldin
Professor Eran Goldin is Founder and Chairman of the Digestive Disease Institute at Shaare Zedek Hospital in Jerusalem, Israel. The GI institute is a multidisciplinary medical ward working close with all the other areas involved in the treatment of gastrointestinal tract like surgery, medicine, diagnostic and invasive imaging, endocrinology etc. In synthesis the idea is an integrative and personalised medicine place with the patient in the center.
Prof Goldin is recognised for his work in the field of digestive diseases, including inflammatory bowel disease (Crohns and Colitis), prevention and treatment of colorectal cancer including colonic polyps resection and an expert in advanced endoscopy. His research has contributed significantly to understanding the pathophysiology and treatment of these conditions, including the involvement of eotaxin-1 and eosinophils in IBD; the use of stem cells in perianal fistula in Crohns and targeting novel aspects of these diseases. Prof Goldin actively has participate also in the development of a new endoscopic method for the treatment of Diabetes by Laser-Ablation of Duodenal mucosa. Additionally, as Head of IBD center in Hadassah Hospital first, and in Shaare Zedek later, Prof Goldin has been involved in hundreds of clinical trials, such as the Phase II clinical trial for bertilimumab, several new biologic and non-biologic treatments in Crohns and Colitis. Prof Goldin also commended the collaboration with Verily (Google) which has led to advancements in the diagnosis and treatment of colon cancer through endoscopic use of Artificial Intelligence.(AI)
